CVI Pop Warner Gladiators - Message from the President

"To the CVI Community at-large:

To echo/relay the many passionate sentiments expressed during the numerous CVISL Board/Committee meetings regarding the CVISL Pop Warner program:

In three years time and with a TREMENDOUS amount of support from countless volunteers, CVI initiated and built a solid, successful, full-contact youth football (Pop Warner) and Cheerleading program in Castro Valley, the first of their kind in the history of our unincorporated community.  Congratulations to the program champions - what a feat!

Development of an organic youth sports program, especially in a community that previously had nothing of its kind, is no small deal - and I personally want to congratulate/thank the dedicated volunteers that made it happen.  The Castro Valley community now has a local Pop Warner and Cheerleading program to call their own - and an established collection of kids/families/coaches that are passionate about keeping them thriving.

After much thoughtful consideration and dedicated effort in evaluating how best to keep the Castro Valley Pop Warner program growing and thriving, the CVI Board has concluded that the Pop Warner and Cheerleading programs would be best positioned to launch into their "next phase" by venturing out on their own as stand-alone entities - allowing all of the passionate volunteers and hard-working supporters to focus year-round on keeping the programs flourishing and enabling them to reach an even greater level of success and growth.

Effective immediately, CVISL no longer offers a Pop Warner or Cheerleading program - but collectively the Board is passionate that the programs continue in Castro Valley as long as they continue to be a positive addition to  our kids, our schools and the community at-large.  In keeping with the passion that started the fledgling program(s) back in 2012, the CVI Board has asked Walter Carrasco (CVI Tackle Football Coordinator in 2012 and 2013)  to "take the baton" and carry them into the future; CVI will be working with Walter to transition the Pop Warner program out of CVI - players, families, and coaches are encouraged to contact Walter with any questions around Castro Valley Pop Warner, Cheerleading and/or the Gladiators.

Walter:  On behalf of the CVI Board, we wish you all the best; good luck with the program and keep up the passion that got the program to where it is today.  It's your baby now - do it, CVI, and the community proud!"
